Draping

Draping is the process of positioning and pinning the fabric on a mannequin to develop the structure of a garment. draping is an important aspect of the design process as the fabric can played around with on the stand to create new designs. after draping, the fabric is removed and used to create a pattern for sewing. draping is usually done with a light material such as muslin as it comes in different weights and is inexpensive. draping is usually done in sections; front bodice, back bodice, front skirt, back skirt, and only the right side of the garment is draped, unless the garment is asymmetrical. draping is a skill which allows designers to understand what achieves a great fit.
